Mr. David DAVTIAN
Armenian Trade Representative in Caribbean and Central American Countries
David Davtian has several years of experience in the Armenian government and subsequently in the private sector in Armenia and the US. As part of his career in the Armenian civil service, Mr. Davtian has worked as Head of America and Asia Department at the Ministry of Diaspora (Ministry of Foreign Affairs); a Senior Advisor to the Minister of State Revenues; head of Customs Policy Department at the Ministry of Finance and Economy; the Chief Negotiator in Geneva for Armenia’s WTO accession; a Senior Expert (international tax affairs) at the State Tax Inspectorate; and a department head at the Chamber of Commerce. After moving to the US, he has worked as a consultant at the World Bank and as a communications manager at the Armenian Embassy in Washington. While in the private sector, David has successfully launched a number of small scale start-ups both in Armenia and the US. The primary mission of the Armenian Trade Representative is the improvement of business environment, promotion of export and investments, support to small and medium enterprises, providing economic growth of the economy as a final result.
Aiming at solving the mentioned problems the Representative undertook a number of functions as follows:
- To promote competitive product manufacturing and enhancement of export potential
- To provide services to member organizations
- To assist the establishment of cooperation between business organizations
- To organize business forums, exhibitions and fairs
- To contribute to the establishment and development of business promotion infrastructures
- To cooperate with other business promotion institutions
- To exchange know-how with various international institutions
- To provide other services aimed at the improvement of the country's economy.
